Devolution: Global Warmings not a typical doomsday title! A lot of work, thought and creativity has gone into making this a reality. Initially, it was made for the MS-DOS, but the hype around the game warranted a new launch for the C64.

AN APOCALYPTIC NIGHTMARE!

Just imagine, Earth has become completely inhabitable due to the intense heat and dryness, leading to the fall of human civilization. War and destruction has left the remaining survivors with no choice other than fighting every other survivor they don’t associate with to make themselves dominant in the wasteland. In this real time strategy game, you are bound to take decisions that are not only beneficial in the short term for you and your tribal fellows, but pose beneficial in the long run too. One simple mistake, and it could cost everyone their lives!

Your ultimate goal is to unite every survivor from your tribe at the very end. Be careful, there are others with the exact same goal, who might try to kill you. Winning is associated with how many enemy tribals you defeat and staying alive for the longest possible time.

If you have a friend who enjoys joking around, while you play a doomsday title, there’s an option for up to four people to enjoy this action filled thriller together. Explore seven different maps and counter three different difficulty levels to finally conquer the title of the ‘Ultimate Survivor’.

The music and graphics could have been better, with numerous players reporting how it seemed like much effort was not put into making it more visually appealing. Nevertheless, the audio definitely gives doomsday vibes!

Conclusion

A highly captivating and creative storyline, making it one of the nowadays best Commodore 64 releases. A bit more love for details and this game would be a killer.
