The Pazaak Battles is a recreation of a popular Star Wars card game, with a twist: an alternative adventure featuring Han Solo, and many other characters from Star Wars. This definitely has the potential to become a fan favorite homebrew game.

MAY THE FAN-FORCE BE WITH YOU.

While this game is merely a fan creation and does not associate with the original Star Wars production theme, it does take some inspiration and funky elements from it. Built on the rules set back, when it was crafted initially, players must reach the highest score possible, without exceeding 20, which is the limit. Each game consists of three rounds where the best of three is considered the winner, and tied rounds are not counted.

The procedure of playing the game is beyond the scope of this article, but in very simple terms, each player has two decks; one main deck and one side deck. Players take turns to draw cards from the main deck and at the very end, the players draw cards from the side deck, which they get to choose at the starting of the match.

The story mode is where the Star Wars inspiration comes to life. Play against numerous characters, alongside customizing your deck with 21 different themed cards for your side deck.

Now what would have added up to the overall experience, would have been a Star Wars flavoured audio soundtrack, but this could possibly lead to a copyright strike, so maybe it’s best as is.

Conclusion

If you enjoy card-style games for the Game Boy in particular, you will most likely have fun with this one; but for the vast majority, it might not come out as appealing as it could have been.
