Do you remember the lava level in ‘Super Mario Bros.’? Now just imagine that level with more details and, instead of Mario, a cute water bubble hero. Enter ‘Goobbler’ for the ZX Spectrum by Kraptol, a game where you navigate through toxic environments to combat water pollution and save the planet’s H2O reserves.

BRIDGE OVER BLOOPPER WATER

Goobbler immerses players in a sparkling world where our water bubble bestie must shoot water to liquidate enemies and clear obstacles. The platformer’s graphics are great for the ZX Spectrum, featuring gooey, yucky contaminated water that visually reinforces the themes of water conservation and pollution. The gameplay is straightforward yet fun. Players must clear obstacles, eliminate enemies, and collect keys to advance to the next stage. Along the way, various power-ups like water drops and health boosts are essential for your progress. But not all are easy to find, making it all the more fun. The ZX Spectrum, thanks to its distinctive graphics and sound capabilities, enhances the experience, making each level feel unique and fluid. See, what we did there? Wink!

One standout level is entirely neon blue with fish in it, adding a visually stunning yet challenging twist due to reduced visibility. The story is compelling: In a world where water is life, the brave water bubble must save the planet’s last pure water reserves from the villain Bloopper. Trapped in a toxic maize, Goobbler must retrieve 11 drops of uncontaminated water to purify the waters and defeat Bloopper. Each collected drop represents a small victory.
