Fishing usually does not belong to the top class of entertainment games. ‘Errazking’, ‘GreenWebSevilla’ and ‘theNestruo’ don’t care and came up with their very own version of an entertaining fishing game for the MSX. Playing ‘Trucho’ works already on a 48k machine.
Before throwing out your fishing line, you might also need to take care of the hook and the bait, which both add up to the fact of being successful or not. Throwing the fishing line too far, doesn’t help. We possibly don’t have the correct vocabulary, as we aren’t fishing experts, but you can also slowly pull the fishing line back. Attracting fishes seems to be as difficult as in real life.

Fishes can swim away and there is a time limit, which is sitting in your neck. Of course, there are different types of fishes such as breams or river pikes. Strong fishes will manage to break your fishing line with ease. Acquire a licence to fish in different areas. Overall, all the graphics are very lovely handset pixel by pixel and the general graphical impression somehow forces your mind to try out your own luck. The music makes sleepy, be sure to have a cup of coffee close by.
A fishing game would be not a fishing game if you would not have the possibility to improve your equipment. Guess what, there is a shop!
We can’t help ourselves, but the shop offers items, which can increase your catches a lot, but unfortunately not for free. Your hard-earned points will suffer. Is it worth the hassle? Of course!
Conclusion
Despite the fact of being a fishing game, it has some depths, which adds to the replay value. The presentation is great, the boxed edition looks beautiful, the digital release is affordable — and there is a story mode too, for those who search for additional entertainment. Pescatore Island and your MSX are waiting for you to catch the biggest fishes of your life.
