With a name like ‘Shotgun’, you can’t be expecting the player to harvest carrots, right? In fact, if you’re diving into this Atari ST remake of the C64 party hit by ‘Dr. Wuro’, you better be ready for chaotic fun. It’s time to lock, load, and outgun your buddies in this multiplayer mayhem.
“For Whom the Deathmatch Tolls”
The premise of Shotgun is simple. In one of seven arenas, you and up to three of your friends scramble for guns, blast each other, and fight to be the last one standing. The rules are clear: grab a gun, use up its bullets, and find another one — because your pals are out to get you, and they won’t be holding back. Each gun comes with only three bullets, so strategy and speed are key. In true party game style, once a player racks up 20 kills (or whatever score you set), the match is over, and a winner is crowned. If two players are your limit, no problem—this game can be played with fewer players or with computer-controlled competitors by assigning them an “AI xxxxxx” name. It’s a fun way to spice up those tournament-style sessions when the room isn’t full. Shotgun has the same sort of energy as old-school death match games like ‘Quake 3’ and ‘Bomberman 64’. Also, finding new guns in the arena means no camping forever, but if you’re sneaky, certain mapsallow for some strategic hiding.
