There are some games you can just breeze through in a single play through, but ‘Dr. Dangerous: Secrets of the Temple of Xol’Tan’ isn’t one of them. It’s the kind of game where a single misstep or wasted bullet can derail your progress entirely.
“(I Can’t Get No) Battery-faction”
Set in the Amazon jungle, Dr. Victor Dangerous, a scientist, finds himself trapped deep within the ancient Temple of Xol’Tan after a storm disables his secret research station. Now, with hostile creatures emerging from the temple’s mysterious energy, our adventurer must battle to survive and restore his equipment. Reminiscent of fun titles like ‘Rick Dangerous’ and ‘Captain Dynamo,’ Dr. Dangerous will test your platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat skills. The temple’s levels are full of dangers, from intricate traps to enemies that require you to be agile. And here comes the fun part: Dr. Dangerous’ weapon only works intermittently, forcing you to be resourceful and manage limited resources. You need to find batteries hidden throughout the temple to restore the station’s systems. One of the game’s defining features is its punishing difficulty. But fear not, because once you complete a level, you get a code that you can save to replay it. However, do note that when you lose all your lives, you must start the level you already completed. Dr. Dangerous delivers a fun visual experience, together with an impressive soundtrack that draws you into the adventure. As you delve deeper into the temple, the challenge ramps up, and the game forces you to rethink your approach, especially with each new enemy type you face.
