Richard of TND has brought the Commodore 64 community a fast-paced horizontal shoot ‘em up that throws you into the thick of it, with cool graphics and explosive gameplay.

The game is built using the Sideways Scrolling SEUCK Right-Left version and powered up by the SEUCK Redux framework. River Barrage features everything you’d expect from a top-notch shoot ‘em up: a dynamic environment, deadly enemies, and plenty of obstacles to dodge. From independent high score tables to slick in-game background animations, this game has something for everyone. It offers a modernised experience while maintaining that beloved C64 charm. Your task is to guide your boat through the hostile waters of a oncebeautiful National Park, now turned war zone by a terrorist leader. He’s dropped mines all over the river and plans to destroy a dam. Along the way, you’ll face his goons from every angle. As if that’s not bad enough, there are underwater mines to avoid, bridges that block your path, and, because it’s a river, a few hungry crocodiles ready to make you their meal.

Rescuing swimmers earns you extra points, and life rings give you a sweet 2,000-point boost. Rack up enough points, and you’ll be granted extra lives. In co-op mode, Player 1 controls Agent 1, piloting a white boat armed with a forward-firing rifle. Player 2 takes on the role of Agent 2, commanding a yellow boat with a missile launcher. Whether you prefer precision shots or going full Rambo, there’s a style of play for everyone.
